Students singingThe UCS Honors Choir presented its 2016-2017 show to a full house of proud parents and families on Jan. 12.

The approximately 80-member choir showcased musical performances during a nine song set.

The UCS Honors Choir is composed of students from each elementary school. Students audition to be part of the choir. The students are under the direction of Jennifer Gard-Eret, Dana Gress and Susan Rosso.

"They are some of the best singers in our schools, and we are very proud of them," Rosso said.

Students have practiced for their performance after school since the end of September.

In addition to the Honors Choir, the concert also included a three-song performance by the Utica Academy for International Studies.

Rosso said the performance by high school students "let our students see what they can aspire to."

Music for the performances was purchased by the UCS Foundation for Educational Excellence.
