Summary of the June 12 Board of Education

The Board of Education recognized students for earning awards in Special Olympics, Science Olympiad, Social Studies Olympiad, Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), SkillsUSA and Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA).

Superintendent's Update
Dr. Christine Johns updated the Board of Education on graduation ceremonies and end of the school year activities. 

Budget Adoption
The Board of Education adopted a 2017-2018 budget. More information on the budget is available at this link: A resolution was also approved to borrow funds in anticipation of school aid scheduled to be received in October. The Board also adopted a regularly scheduled amendment to the 2016-2017 budget. 

A resolution was adopted for participating in Michigan High School Athletic Association 

Policy Revision
Policy 4310 - Compensation for Non-Affiliated Employees - was adopted.

First Readings - Policy Revisions
The following policy revisions were introduced as a first reading: Policy 4135 - Business and Travel Expenses; Policy 5530 - Wellness; Policy 5570 Food Service Meal Charging; and Policy 9300 - Board of Education Reimbursement. 

Administrative Appointments
Administrative appointments approved by the Board. Appointments include: John Graham as senior executive administrator of facilities and technology; Melissa Labadie as elementary principal, Jeanne Poleski as elementary principal and Jerome Hoppe as supervisor of auxiliary services. 

Holiday Dates
Specific dates for holidays were approved for the purpose of employment and operating schedules. 

Contracts Awarded
The following contracts were approved: Rubbish Removal, Property/Casualty Insurance, Student Accident Insurance, Milk Products, Food Service Products, Food Service Produce, Food Service Equipment, Technology Purchase, Mechanical Unit Replacements - Instructional Resource Center, Bioler Tratment,  Centrex/Pots Lines, Software Support Services, Staffing Services and Special Services Assessment Materials.
