Summary of the May 22 Board of Education

The Board of Education honored elementary students who excelled in this year's UCS Math Tournament and the 2016-17 National Math Olympiad. 


Superintendent's Report
Dr. Johns updated the Board of Education on scholarships earned by 2017 graduates, the Macomb County Science Olympiad Competition, and the district receiving the Certificate of Comprehensive Annual Financial Report from the Association of School Business Officials International.


MISD Biennial Election
The Board of Education designated Gene Klida as representative for the Macomb Intermediate School District Biennial Election of Board Members and Michele Templeton as an alternate and identified candidates for the MISD positions.


Property Sale Amendment
An amendment to a sale of property resolution for Ewell Elementary School was adopted by the Board of Education.


Budget Hearing
A public hearing to consider the proposed 2017-18 budget will be held on June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Instructional Resource Center.


Non-Affiliated Employees
A first reading of Policy 4310 - Compensation for Non-Affiliated Employees was presented.


Contract Awards
The following contract awards were approved: athletic field improvements at Eisenhower/Malow Campus and Henry Ford II High School; technology renovations at Utica High School; and certification of boilers.
