Kaleidoscope 13 celebrates UCS authors and poets
Kaleidoscope cover designed by Hope Rausch, of Beck Elementary
Recently, Macomb County young authors, family members, teachers, and building principals gathered at the Macomb ISD to honor the students’ writing submissions to the 22nd annual state-wide Kaleidoscope Young Authors competition.
A collection of these young authors was published in the 2013 edition of Kaleidoscope published by the Michigan Reading Association (MRA).
Through the Kaleidoscope publication, MRA celebrates the accomplishment of young authors by showcasing their voices, insights, and skills as they are welcomed into a statewide community of writers.
Selecting the writing pieces for this publication is a difficult task. Each year, teachers from across Michigan submit the work of eager writers for review and acceptance by representatives of the Michigan Reading Association.
The stories, poetry, and artwork submitted to this 22nd edition of Kaleidoscope represent the work of extraordinary young writers and their supportive teachers.
Thirty seven UCS elementary students have earned the prestigious honor of being recognized by the Michigan Reading Association as outstanding young authors and poets.
The students were honored at the Young Authors’ Luncheon at the Michigan Reading Association’s Annual Conference and also attended the Kaleidoscope Dinner at the Macomb Intermediate School District.
The following students were honored in this year's programs:
Illustrator Brendan Watson
Illustrators Hope Rausch
