We are committed to providing our students deserve the very best education. Working on a district-wide level from kindergarten through high school graduation, students are prepared to succeed at the university level as well as in the workforce. With myriad programs, techniques and opportunities at the secondary level, we're able to serve each of our students so that Every Child Achieves.
While we offer more than 150 college preparatory and general classes, more than 70 secondary courses are career-oriented. Our students take nearly 2,000 Advanced Placement examinations each year in 29 subject areas, with the majority receiving college credit. We've continued to expand these courses so that even our elementary school students are beginning preparations to take on these advanced classes at the secondary level.
In conjunction with a comprehensive program in core academic subjects at the secondary level, students also have a broad selection of elective and exploratory classes. With programs such as our Utica Center for Science and Industry; Utica Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology; Utica Center for Applied Learning; and the Utica Academy for International Studies, we meet the needs of students at every level. These programs help foster a college culture within our schools and provide your child with the opportunity to explore various interests as early as junior high school.
We also understand that parents serve an invaluable role in the education of their children. You send a powerful message - that education is important - when you take interest in your child's studies and work with the schools to keep lines of communication open. With your support and the opportunities and support we provide, there is no limit to what your child can learn and achieve.
At UCS, we remember our vision: All children have the right to a rigorous, high-quality education which meets their individual needs. UCS will respect, encourage and empower each and every student to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to be successful, contributing members of a diverse community and global society.
