Message from the Principal…
My name is Tricia Hassell and I am the proud principal of Browning the Best! Having attending Utica Community Schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade, it is a dream come true for me to work and give back to the community where I grew up.
The educational staff at Browning Elementary is dedicated and passionate about the work they do for children. I am proud that our staff and community are committed to setting high expectations for student learning and helping to inspire a sense of pride in each child to perform at his/her very best. Browning Elementary is a Blue Ribbon School and each staff member is committed to the school improvement process.
In addition to academic excellence, we also focus on strengthening each child’s social skills. To promote positive social behavior, Browning implemented a school-wide program with posters in every classroom to encourage children to communicate effectively and solve conflicts peacefully using an “I Message.”

At Browning we have implemented Positive Behavior Support where children have the opportunity to earn “Caught you at Your Best” tickets when an adult sees them following the Utica Community Schools Success Skills. This support system includes proactive strategies for encouraging appropriate student behavior to create and promote a positive school environment.
A quality education requires a strong partnership between home and school. Parents play an integral role in assisting student learning and are welcomed members in the educational process that affects their children. Browning welcomes and appreciates visitors wishing to support our students. I look forward to a wonderful year full of academic excellence, positive attitudes and outstanding citizenship, as we unite to make a difference in the lives of our children!
