Dear
UCS Parents/Guardians,
On
behalf of the entire UCS community, I want to wish you the best for a happy and
peaceful New Year. On Monday, we will begin the second semester of the
2021-2022 school year. With your support and the mitigation strategies utilized
in our multi-layered approach to COVID-19 our schools
continue moving forward with the goal we set at the beginning of the school
year – to provide full days of in-person instruction for our students.
Your
partnership is even more important as we return from the holidays with the
Omicron surge taking place throughout our state and across the country. We
expect this surge will further strain the staffing challenges we are
experiencing in our schools and key positions throughout the district. It is
critical that we have the personnel necessary to meet the needs of our
families. Providing our students and staff a safe and effective learning
environment as we return will take all of us working together.
We
have been in regular conversations with the Macomb County Health Department
regarding recent trends and information from national and state officials. As
has been a consistent part of our health protocols, face coverings are a
mitigation strategy that we are strongly recommending along with local health
officials for our staff and students. If your child does not feel well,
they need to remain home. We will continue to make further adjustments
in schools or classrooms where we are experiencing an increased impact of
COVID-19, including requiring face coverings or going to remote learning in
specific areas on a temporary basis.
