More
than 120 honors were awarded to Utica Community Schools students through the
annual Scholastic Arts competition, including two of the top five awards in the
program.
Of the
five American Visions awards from the entire Thumb area, two were UCS high
school students: Renee Cilluffo, of Utica High School, in drawing and
illustration for “Ensconced” and Francesca Cantalini of Henry Ford II High
School, in photography for “Too Much.”
These
artists will represent the region on the national level as American Vision
nominees. Their teachers are Dr. Lisa Grunewald and Megan Berry.
In
addition, three UCS student artists received “Best of Show” recognition by
judges:

The
Scholastic Arts Competition is a national program that honors the best in
student-produced art. The Michigan Thumb Scholastic Art Awards Ceremony & Exhibition will host a virtual celebration to celebrate the honorees on March 8.
