Band-A-Rama compilationUCS Bands rocked the house at the annual Band-A-Rama.

The event returned Sunday to Swinehart Field after a 735-day hiatus.

Band-A-Rama showcases the district’s talented high school musicians in field performances.

Ticket proceeds benefited the Louis Gonda Memorial Music Scholarship to fund opportunities for UCS band students to further their music education.  Over the years, the Gonda Fund has enabled hundreds of students to attend music camps, take private lessons or otherwise enrich their music study.

Band performed the half-time shows they are using for district festivals later this week. The shows are:

-Chieftain Marching Band – A Disney Journey
-Eagle Marching Band – Memories and Dreams
-Titan Marching Band – Rock of Ages
-Falcon Marching Band – Just What the Doctor Ordered

The bands began the night with a combined performance of the Star Spangled Banner.

UCS bands are under the direction of Brett Bayes, of Utica High School; Jonathan Carrothers, of Eisenhower High School; Mathew Schoenherr, of Henry Ford II High School; and Michael Sekich, of Stevenson High School.

Utica Community Schools continues to be honored at state and national levels for the high quality of its music program. For the seventh time, the district was selected as one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education by NAMM.
