By sharing a diverse catalog of resources, UCS Wellness strives to help each community member create their own unique “wellness toolbox.” These resources include a virtual calming room for anyone experiencing stress, wellness support guides specifically designed for students and parents, and Monday Moments released weekly to encourage kindness and inspire hope.

Further expanding the wellness resource toolbox is the UCS Wellness Podcast. In the new monthly podcast series, UCS counselors speak with professionals from across the area on topics pertaining to the health of our community. With new episodes being released on the third Wednesday of each month throughout the school year, each episode tackles a different topic such as grief and the grieving process for children, and family communication, among others.

“The pandemic and recent school tragedies have emphasized the importance of mental wellness for our students, staff and families, and the UCS Wellness Podcast is providing another resource to help our community focus on their health and well-being,” UCS Superintendent, Robert Monroe said.

“I am so proud of the initiative the UCS Wellness team has shown to expand this program in support of our community.”

In the inaugural episode focused on the importance of mental health, Henry Ford II High School counselor, Catherine Livingston, spoke with Nancy Buyle, School Safety/Student Assistance Consultant for the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD).

Buyle shared her excitement around the UCS Wellness Podcast, saying, “I’m so grateful to you for doing this.”

“I think this is wonderful information that everyone needs to learn about and I’m excited to be hearing about all the other podcasts you’ll be doing, as well.”
