Beacon Tree students promote autism awareness and acceptance month

Beacon Tree Elementary 3rd graders, Vivian Joiner and Lulu Carter, took it upon themselves to highlight autism awareness and acceptance month with their classmates.

“We made these bags and inside it has an autism awareness themed bracelet, a stress-relieving squishy and autism awareness stickers,” Joiner explained.

With the assistance of Carter’s mom in supplying the items, each autism awareness bag was individually filled, working together as a team to put the bags together for their classmates.

Joiner and Carter’s efforts were met with gratitude from their classmates, making them feel good that they could make the bags and have fun together at the same time.

When asked why this project was important to them, Joiner said, “it’s nice to make people who have autism feel warm and loved.”
