UCS Special Olympians capture the Gold!
Athletes from UCNECT and Project Search recently competed in the 2026 Winter Games in Traverse City!
Our athletes were tough as nails as they competed in below zero temperatures and snow squalls!
Caroline Machesky, Madison Hassar, TaiLiyah Yancy, and Max Beardsley, participated in the 100 and 50 meter snowshoe races while Olivia Harris and BreAnna Scott competed at Schuss Mountain in the 50 and 100 meter cross- country skiing event.
The Team brought home 5-Gold Medals, 2-Silver Medals, 2-Bronze Medals, and 4- Participant Ribbons.
In addition, the athletes enjoyed fun activities at the Grand Traverse Resort, including drumming, singing karaoke and hanging out with the cute service dogs.
The coaches, Pat Nizza, Michelle Moceri, and Kelly and Peter Bowler were so proud of the athletes and their wonderful sportsmanship! We are looking forward to the warmer weather and the Summer Games at CMU in May.
