Full scholarship at Michigan allows Ike senior to shoot for the stars

Tyler FarmerA lifelong dream of working for NASA is a step closer for Tyler Farmer.

Farmer, an Eisenhower High School senior, has earned a full ride “All Hail” scholarship from the University of Michigan to study engineering.

“This is such a great opportunity for me and I appreciate being accepted into a school that is so highly regarded,” Famer said.

Farmer said the scholarship is another step of a dream he has. His interest was sparked by Carl Sagan books and the TV show MythBusters.

“It is something that I have always wanted to do,” he said. “It would be a dream to go to space or be one of the people working to make that happen.”

Farmer credited his UCS teachers for “allowing me to be successful” on his journey toward space.

One of those teachers, Malow Junior High School teacher Patricia Parks, said Farmer was always motived to be successful.

“Tyler was a very dedicated student,” she said. “Tyler continued to work hard during the 2020 shutdown, being a conscientious and responsible student.  It was a pleasure having him in class.”

Farmer is graduating as a valedictorian at Ike in June and has been selected as a member of the Macomb County All-Academic Team.
