Ford II Sophomore Shines at Sutton Foster Awards, Makes School History

Eva Performing

Four talented students from Henry Ford II High School: Haylee Graham (12), Emma Hudgins (12), Abigail Patterson (12), and Eva Wassom (10), represented our school at the 13th Annual Sutton Foster Awards (SFA) held at the Wharton Center at Michigan State University on Sunday, March 18, 2025. This prestigious regional competition brings together approximately 150 of Michigan's top musical theatre performers.

Students at the SFAs showcase their skills in ensemble numbers and character melodies, vying for a spot among the top eight performers. These eight finalists are then considered for the ultimate honor: two students are chosen to represent Michigan at the nationally recognized Jimmy Awards in New York City, competing alongside the top two performers from every state.

In an exciting first for Henry Ford II and Utica Community Schools, adjudicators selected sophomore Eva Wassom as one of the coveted eight finalists. This remarkable achievement designates her as one of the top eight theatre students in Michigan.

Eva's accomplishment is a testament to her dedication, talent, and Ford's thriving arts program. This is an historic moment for our school and UCS.

Wassom's recognition at this highly competitive event underscores the growing strength of musical theatre talent within the local community. Her success will undoubtedly inspire future generations of performers at Ford and beyond.
