Michigan Tech invests in CSI Leading Scholars
The Utica Center for Science and Industry continues to be at the head of the class for Michigan Technological University.
The northern Michigan university has awarded UCSI seniors Ryan Miller, Elijah McCoy and Nolan Roessler its top scholarship – the Leading Scholars.
“I feel like this scholarship recognizes who I am as a person,” said Miller, who also attends Henry Ford II High School and plans to study computer science. “They assess you on whether you are a good pick for Michigan Tech, and it shows that I will fit in there.”
McCoy, who attends Eisenhower High School, sees Michigan Tech as a good fit for his mechatronics degree.
“I like the environment and how professional it seemed when I first went up there,” he said.
Both McCoy and Miller said they felt their experiences at CSI were important to receiving the top scholarship.
“UCS gave me the experiences and the support for what I wanted, and it also taught me how to be part of team,” McCoy said. “I really was not sure when I was in junior high what I wanted to do in my future, and then I came here and realized this is the career for me.”
Miller said the UCSI staff members “really care about their students. They are invested in their material, and they do a really good job making it interesting to learn.”
While also earning the Leading Scholars award, Roessler plans to attend the University of Michigan.
