Generations of Giving
For three generations of the Snyder family, Dresden Elementary is more than just a school, it’s part of their story and their legacy.
Grandfather Stephen Snyder proudly serves as a Dresden Dude, taking part in a program that invites fathers and father-figures to spend time in the school, connect with students, and make a positive impact throughout the day.
Continuing that commitment, his son, Stephen Snyder, carries on the family tradition as Dresden’s first “Lunch Dad” in years. As a Lunch Supervisor, he’s become a friendly and familiar presence, helping students and creating a welcoming atmosphere in the cafeteria.
“Having a grandfather volunteer, a son working as a lunchroom supervisor, and a grandson enrolled at Dresden Elementary is a powerful example of the strength and value of community,” said Principal Brad Suggs.
The youngest of the three, 2nd grader Stephen Snyder, proudly continues the family legacy. Teachers describe him as curious, kind, and full of energy — a student who loves reading, recess, and sharing stories on the bus ride home.
“When families volunteer across generations, it strengthens the bond between school and community,” Principal Suggs said. “It sends a powerful message that learning is important at every age and stage of life. By volunteering, these family members not only help with school activities but also inspire students to one day give back themselves — continuing the cycle of support and community pride.”
Together, the Snyders remind us that Dresden is more than a school. It’s a community built on a culture of caring — where connection, service and tradition come together to create a legacy that will last for generations.
