    Dear All Star Parents/Guardians:

February has arrived, and so has the frigid cold weather!  The month may be cold and frigid, but within Beacon Tree, we are hopping!

Our winter conferences are scheduled for Thursday, February 9th from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.  Every parent should have received a conference letter stating that a conference is needed, or that one is not.  If you received a letter stating that a conference is not needed, you still can request a conference.  Please refer to the conference letter for options.  If you have questions, please reach out to your classroom teacher.

Our All Star Strong initiative is ready to take the next steps for implementation.  In my last message, I placed a link to our introductory video to the new positive behavior plan we are going to be utilizing here at Beacon Tree.  Thanks to the help of Mr. Hansen, each classroom now has an “All Star Strong” board hanging on the wall in the hallway.  This board will be utilized to highlight a student in the classroom, as well as provide an opportunity for their classmates to write positive message about that student.  This will be a great way to celebrate our All Stars throughout the school year.  I will be working with the staff this month to outline our plan to begin utilizing the boards to begin celebrating students.  I look forward to seeing the faces and positive messages for our All Stars!

You can still view the All Star Strong Introduction video HERE.

    Upcoming Events:

On Tuesday February 7th we will be hosting the first ever 5th Grade Spelling Bee!  Mrs. Hansen is heading up the extravaganza, and is looking forward to crowning our first ever Beacon Tree Elementary Spelling Bee Champion!  Good luck participants!

For other important dates and activities, please make sure to check out the calendar on the website!

If you are a parent of an incoming kindergarten student, please know that Kindergarten Open House will be held here at Beacon Tree Elementary on Wednesday, March 1st at 7:00pm.  There will be more information coming soon about this event.  In the meantime, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (586)797-7300.

Please remember that we will have outdoor recess as long as the playground is clear and safe, and the temperature is above 10 degrees (with the windchill).  Please make sure that your child is prepared for outdoor recess for various weather opportunities.  I would also encourage parents to make sure that their child’s name is written on as many clothing items as possible. Lastly, the Lost and Found has a lot of gloves and hats that have been abandoned.  If your child is missing these, or any other items, please check the Lost and Found!

    Just A Couple of Resources:

The BTV will continue to utilize their Membership Toolkit account throughout the school year.  Please utilize the link below to access the Membership Toolkit for upcoming BTV activities.
