    Dear UCS Community,

Over the past few weeks, I have been sharing with you a series of updates on our work to address long-standing issues related to UCS attendance areas. Our district leadership has been working with the Enrollment Distribution Advisory Committee to create a plan that will keep neighborhoods together, address building capacity issues and strengthen relationships by ensuring elementary students remain with their peers as they advance through their junior high and high school years.

Last evening, our Board of Education approved this plan, which will become effective in the coming school years as outlined on our website. These changes complete the review of the Henry Ford II High School and Stevenson High School attendance areas. This spring, the Enrollment Distribution Advisory Committee will begin its review of attendance areas in the Utica High School and Eisenhower High School feeder patterns.

We are committed to taking the time necessary to create a seamless and positive transition for our students, staff and families. We will work together to ensure our students experience success in our classrooms today and well into the future. As we continue to implement improvements through our UCS Empowered Strategic Plan, there is one thing I know will never change - the relationships we build that empower our students.

We will keep our community updated as we move forward with our strategic planning in the new calendar year. We are in an important moment of time, and we are embracing our future from a position of strength. I look forward to working in partnership with our entire community as we take our exemplary school district to its next level.

I wish you the best for a safe and peaceful holiday season. Enjoy this time with your family and we look forward to seeing you again on January 5th.

    Sincerely,

    Robert S. Monroe
    Superintendent of Schools
