Early Childhood
UCS Early Childhood programs utilize a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that feature exploration and discovery as a way of learning. Job openings include coordinators, preschool teachers and assistant teachers.

Meet Jason Ellis

Jason started his career with UCS as a School Aged Child Care (SACC) assistant right out of high school. While he was unsure what his future career would entail, the flexible schedule of the SACC program provided him the opportunity to work through college and he was later promoted to a SACC director.

A degree in education seemed like a natural fit and his experience with UCS Community Education gave him the edge he needed when looking for a full-time teaching role. He was principal at Beacon Tree Elementary prior to retiring in 2023.

Meet Kim O'Keefe

Kim has been part of the UCS community for more than 35 years as a lead teacher at DeKeyser Elementary Preschool. DeKeyser celebrated its 50^th anniversary earlier this year.

She enjoys having a preschool within an elementary school because it provides her students the opportunity to engage with older students. She also loves being able to watch her preschoolers grow throughout their elementary school career. She has even had the opportunity to teach the children of her former preschool students.

She believes a job with UCS Community Education offers staff the opportunity to find their niche and work with individuals at a variety of ages. She also appreciates the professional development opportunities offered by the district, particularly after the past several years of the pandemic.
