• Adult Education, Alternative Learning Center grads look to the future

Alternative Learning Center and celebrated perseverance and the unique paths they took to reach their dreams.

“Today is a great, awesome, and amazing day, and I know I'm not the only one who's waited what seems like a lifetime for it,” said commencement speaker Brittaney Bruglio. “We have all earned this.”

UALC Administrator Mark McLoughlin honored the accomplished of graduates, recognizing seniors who earned superintendent and Graduation Alliance scholarships:

    • Superintendent’s Scholarship - Madison Dietz – Kostera
    • Graduation Alliance - Nicole Diaz De Leon, Shayla Cowan, Mikaela Romska and Madison Dietz – Kostera

“This chapter of your life is finished,” McLoughlin said. “We are proud of you and wish you the very best on your future ahead.”

Director of UCS Community Education Director CJ Wajeeh honored the graduates’ work ethic.

“Our students come to us from many diverse backgrounds and experiences, but as each student embraced the importance of education, their path leads all of us here to today in a united celebration,” she said.

Our graduates have worked hard to get to this moment, but through the support and encouragement of their families, friends, and staff they have made it here today.

Superintendent Robert Monroe reminded graduates that their experiences both in and out of the classroom will continue to define their future.

“I encourage you to continue chasing and following your interests” he said. “Because as I'm sure you can recognize, for as much as you learned in your studies during your time here, you learned just as much through finding and developing those passions as well.”

Board of Education President Dr. Mary Thomas, speaking on behalf of the graduating senior parents, reminded graduates that  they will always have strong family roots no matter throughout their future.

“We've given you everything you need to know and now it's time for you to set out on your own,” she said. “Have courage, be kind, and never forget all of the people here in this room that are cheering you on and supporting you. And call .... often!! I speak for every family member in this arena.”

Congratulations to the Class of 2023.
