Dear All Star Parents/Guardians:
March has arrived! This month is always fun because of our March is Reading Month initiative! This year the school-wide book is titled A Boy Called Bat. To accompany the book, our fantastic Media Center teacher, Mrs. DiBrango has created an introductory video and webpage for all to utilize during the month.

If you have been in the building this month, you have noticed the wonderful decorations provided by multiple parent volunteers, and a plethora of skunks on the walls! In conjunction with our book, we are making Beacon Tree Elementary “Stinking Cute”. Every year our hallway transforms to a wonderful reading experience for all our All Stars. This year is no exception! Thank you to all our volunteers for making this happen for us!
All Star Strong:
March also kicked off the second phase of our All Star Strong initiative. Following our roll-out video, teachers have selected a student for the month to be their All Star Strong Student! Outside of each of our classrooms is a board that contains a photo of a student and some “star” sticky notes that contain positive messages from their classmates. We look to continue this trend for the remainder of the year and on into next year. It is such a great way to celebrate students and for them to receive positive messages from their classmates! We are All Star Strong!
5th Grade Spelling Bee:
Our first ever 5th Grade Spelling Bee was a success! I would like to thank Mrs. Hansen for running the bee, and providing an opportunity for our All Stars. I would also like to thank all of the participants! It was very brave of you to get out in front of your peers and perform like you did! I am proud of you all!
First Place: Sarah Varughese
Second Place: Addison Lock
Third Place: Isabella Candela
Sarah went on to participate at Macomb Community College with 5th through 8th grade students. She represented Beacon Tree Elementary with honor and class. Sarah made it to the final 5 before bowing out of the competition on the word “bacteriolytic”. Yep, I am not familiar with that word either.
Kindergarten Open House:
It was so nice to welcome new (and some returning) families at Kindergarten Open House! It is hard to believe that the newest set of All Stars will be the graduating class of 2036! I look forward to working with our newest All Stars and their families next school year!
Winter Conferences:
Thank you to all who attended the winter conferences! We appreciate you coming in to continue the work with teachers to help ensure the success of your All Star!! We had an attendance rate of 97%! Thank you for your commitment to your child’s success!
