• Scheduling Information

The UCS website contains a comprehensive list of all courses offered to Henry Ford II students. UCS Scheduling Page

This graduation checklist can be utilized by students to track their progress toward graduation and visualize which courses they should take next.

Check out the district-wide PowerPoint presentation for detailed information about graduation requirements, AP classes, Dual Enrollment, FLEX options, and personal curriculum.

Scheduling Process: Students request their coursework for the following school year each February/March. Students are encouraged to put time, consideration, and research into determining which courses they should sign up for. Students are encouraged to discuss course selections with their families and consult with their teachers and school counselors during the scheduling process.

Schedule Change Policy: Please keep in mind that your schedule is created based on your selections during online scheduling the previous year. Teacher staffing, course offerings, and instructional supplies are all based on your course selections. Unfortunately, schedule change requests based on teacher preference cannot be accommodated. Additionally, accelerated and Advanced Placement courses cannot be dropped during the school year.

    • Flex Options

Flex is the ability for students to modify the Michigan Merit Curriculum by replacing a required credit with an alternate course. Students can flex out of physical education and 1 year of a world language.

Students can use this application to request a Flex option replacement.

      Requirements

      • Physical Education: The .5 credit for Physical Education may also be awarded by the school district or public school academy for approved participation in extracurricular athletics or other extracurricular activities involving physical activity. Please note, however, that this pertains only to the physical education credit guidelines of the MMC, not the health education credit guidelines.

      • World Language: Students may partially or fully fulfill one credit of the World Language requirement by completing a department-approved formal CTE program or by completing Visual, Performing, or Applied Arts instruction that is in addition to the Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts requirement.

      Personal Curriculum

      Purpose of Personal Curriculum

The Personal Curriculum is a process to modify specific credit requirements and/or content expectations based on the individual learning needs of a student. It is designed to serve students who want to accelerate or go beyond the MMC requirements and students who need to individualize learning requirements to meet the MMC requirements.

A Personal Curriculum allows several flexible learning options, including:

      • Earning additional credit in specific subject areas and counting these credits toward meeting the state requirements.
      • Allowing modifications of the MMC necessary to demonstrate proficiency for students transferring to a district from out of state or from a nonpublic school.

      Dual Enrollment

Eligible high school students are provided an opportunity to enroll in college courses. The school district provides money toward tuition, mandatory course materials or registration fees. Dual enrollment classes replace classes within your high school schedule. To enroll in a dual enrollment course, students must have exceeded the ability to take courses in the same pathway within the UCS curriculum. Students must apply for Dual Enrollment with their school counselor before the semester in which they are taking a dual enrollment course.
