What you will learn:
Students will gain skills to work in all areas of the construction field, including carpentry, interior/exterior finishing, electrical, plumbing and home repair.
Students will build and maintain residential and commercial construction projects, operate power tools and heavy equipment for demolition and construction, and read blueprints for rough and finished carpentry, electrical and plumbing. This program of study will also prepare students who are interested in entering a post-secondary program in construction management.

CTE Construction Trades

This 2-hour course is designed to provide insight and experience in the construction trade industry. Residential construction is integrated with commercial construction techniques and materials. Students will participate in several aspects of the construction process. Upon successful completion of this program, students can qualify for paid internship training as well as articulated college credit.

CTE Construction Trades Capstone I
Prerequisite: CTE Construction Trades
Shared Time: May require travel to another building
This course is designed to provide students with advanced experience within the Construction industry to include the mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades. Upon successful completion of this program, students can qualify for paid internship training as well as articulated college credit. Students in this program are eligible to receive a credential for the builder’s 60-hour pre-licensure certificate and the OSHA 10 credential.

CTE Construction Trades Capstone II
Prerequisite: CTE Construction Trades

This course is designed to provide advanced experience in the Commercial Construction trades industry. Students will participate in several aspects of the construction process. Upon successful completion of this program, students can qualify for paid internship training as well as articulated college credit. Students in this program are eligible to receive a credential for the builder’s 60-hour pre-licensure certificate and the OSHA 10 Credential.

STW Construction Trades Intern
Prerequisite: School to Work Coordinator approval, and completed or co-enrolled in CTE Construction Trades
This course offers students the opportunity to spend a portion of their school day working at a construction trade related training site in the community. This employment experience is related to the career goals of the student and is supervised by a school-to-work coordinator. The student will develop workplace skills and leadership traits in their chosen area of specialty. Evaluation of job performance and assessment of coursework is the responsibility of the STW Coordinator with input from the training site supervisor. This program adheres to all federal and state labor laws.
